Estimator

Details

LOCATION: Addison, TX

WORK TYPE: Estimating

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 3+ years of Civil Estimating

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

Primary Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Read and analyze bid plans, technical documents, and specification to determine the full scope of work and bid requirements.
  • Perform site visits to determine project parameters and verify existing conditions.
  • Perform takeoff based on the project scope.
  • Collect and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, equipment, subcontracted, and labor required to complete the project.
  • Solicitations
  • Obtain material and subcontract quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Work with Fleet Manager to asses fleet resource availability and determine rental rates as needed.
  • Build good relationships with vendors and subs.
  • Update and maintain DDM’s Sub/Vendor database
  • Labor and Equipment Cost
  • Work with Chief Estimator to determine Equipment Ownership and Operating Costs, as well as labor rates of direct, indirect and overhead staff.
  • Identify and quantify cost factors
  • Determine and update production rates from historical project data.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
  • Prepare final bid proposal with contract administrator.
  • Develop preliminary project plan and schedule with chief estimator.
  • Lead and train estimating interns.

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Ability to understand and analyze all aspects of the project, including project schedules, production, plans, specifications, and budget.
  • Advanced abilities in Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Abilities to use Bluebeam Revu and Agtek takeoff software.
  • Ability to use HCSS Heavy Bid Software.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Project Engineer

Details

LOCATION: Addison, TX

WORK TYPE: Project Engineer

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 3+ years of Civil Estimating

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

Primary Responsibilities

    • Assist the Project Managers and Superintendents in managing the construction of projects.
    • Contract and subcontract administration
      • Review subcontract applications
      • Submit Pay Applications to owners
    • Oversee the construction schedule, material and equipment procurement.
    • Oversee shop drawing and submittal coordination.
    • Ensure accuracy of information, including time, coding, quantities and field material deliveries.
    • Review and approval of deliveries and invoices.
    • Manage and oversee cost reports and production reports.
    • Assist in field management and coordination of subcontractors, vendors and trucking.
    • Coordination with Owner inspection team to facilitate and coordinate field work.
    • Facilitate production and schedule meetings with the project staff.
    • Manage change order documentation and associated cost reporting/maintenance.
    • Research and suggest on construction means, methods and equipment utilization.

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Knowledge
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
    • 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Skills
    • Ability to understand and analyze all aspects of the project, including project schedules, production, plans, specifications, and budget.
    • Ability to use Project Management/Accounting/Scheduling Interfaces (ComputerEase).

Grading/Dirt Foreman

Details

LOCATION: Dallas, TX

WORK TYPE: Operations

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 7+ years of experience of heavy highway and rehab supervising dirt/grading operations.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

Primary Responsibilities

The Grading/Dirt Foreman is responsible for grading and dirt operations for heavy highway, road and street rehab projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a grading crew performing mass excavation and fine grading operations according to the project’s schedule and budget.
  • Responsible for planning, production and safety of a grading/dirt crew.
  • Supervises and monitors progress and quality of work.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance and checks of equipment being used.
  • Responsible for assuring that all work assigned meets project plans and specs.
  • Comply with all OSHA and DDM safety policies and guidelines.

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • 7+ years of heavy highway and street rehab experience supervising crews responsible for mass excavation, grading, lime/cement subgrade treatment, heavy haul, flexbase, embankment, drainage, and demolition.
  • Must be able to read and interpret construction plans and specifications to correctly and efficiently perform the operation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Working knowledge of Trimble grade control systems.
  • Prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Dependable, self-motivated and task oriented.

Heavy Equipment Operator - Dozer
